Socio-economic assessment of desertification policies in Mongolia

This project is funded by Ministry of Environment in Japan and executed by Global Environmental Forum. Together with a financial aid from Sumitomo Foundation, our Lab is working hard to make this project successful. Mongolia’s economy is under rapid expansion today, but the expansion poses considerable impacts on the life of herders and Mongolian grasslands. Land degradation due to the change in livestock composition, increase in livestock numbers, overgrazing in suburb areas and climate change are all serious threats to sustainable Mongolia. This project aims to develop capacity of Mongolian people and governments at central and local government for sustainable development of Mongolia, through dialogue with local experts, policymakers, associated businesses and herders.
