Rsearch on the Social Acceptance of High-Level Radioactive Waste (HLW) treatment and disposal facilities

The purpose of this project is to clarify the way of social consensus regarding the siting HLW treatment and disposal facilities that reprocess the nuclear fuel from nuclear power plant based on the Deficit Model and Context Model in science and technology Communication Research from Japan and the European Countries as case studies.
To define of Social Acceptance in this project: the condition and extent to which high-level radioactive waste policy is acceptable to society.
This project will apply four acceptance to find out the social acceptance.
(1) Technical Acceptance (Technical impact assessment: safety and technical substitutability)
(2) Institutional Acceptance (Social and Political adaptability: ethics and legitimacy in principle surface or policy coherence, etc.)
(3) Market Acceptance (Economic Feasibility)
(4) Regional Acceptance (Regional adaptability: validity and fairness of the risk-benefit allocation procedures)
